A place to share what you know and to learn from others.
Independent Computer Studies is a one semester, elective course with a focus on:
Video production
2D and 3D animation
Image editing
Students are assigned reading, online tutorials and projects from the three topics above. Mr. Deger consults and directs the students on a regular basis, but there are many days when the students work without his direct supervision. The program is designed to address the needs of students who have traditionally been identified as "gifted and talented." Therefore, ICS students should:
be self-motivated and able to work without direct teacher supervision.
have above average reading skill and problem-solving facility.
be able to work cooperatively in small groups.
have a history of responsible time management and assignment completion.
show evidence of self-directed learning that goes beyond standard classroom expectations. This may take the form of special projects in school or in the community.
In addition to parent permission, prospective students need the recommendation of their counselor and at least one teacher who has observed the above characteristics. A community member may also give evidence of criterion #5 above.
